Recently Uninor GSM mobile services were launched in in seven Indian telecom circlesa, making it the largest single day launch in the telecom history. Uninor is a Joint venture between Norway's Telenor and India's Unitech Group. The Telenor Group is a leading provider of telecommunications services worldwide. The company has a strong footprint in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia and a leading Nordic position in mobile, broadband and TV services.
Uninor got license from TRAI last year to offer Mobile GSM service. They have launched services simultaneously across all circles in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh East and West, and Bihar including Jharkhand and in other circles, they will tie up with other operators for roaming.
Uninor came with an slogan of “Ab mera number hai” means "now its my turn" after leading GSM telecom operators in India include Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Communications, Tata DoCoMo, Loop Mobile and Aircel.
